Your First Visit to West Coast Chiropractic Carlsbad 

New Patient Forms

Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our West Coast Chiropractic Carlsbad family.  We will request that you complete our new patient forms. These form let your chiropractor know a little bit about your condition and current state of health. If you would like to save time, please print, fill out & bring these forms with you on your first visit. They can be found on our website under the "New Patient Center" under "Online Forms."  This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.

Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with your chiropractor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for your doctor to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your needs and goals.

Examination

After your consultation, your chiropractor will perform a complete chiropractic examination. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. The exam requires no disrobing and nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

X-ray Studies

Depending on your specific condition, we may take X-rays as well. X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us to any serious spinal conditions. Most people are amazed once they see their X-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.

Report of Findings

After reviewing your health history and examining your spine and X-rays, your chiropractor will sit down with you to give you a detailed report of all your findings. During this report the doctor will answer any questions you may have including:

1. Can you help me?
2. How often do I need to come in?
3. What will  my treatment  cost?

Your chiropractor will recommend the best treatment and wellness program for your individual condition and needs. If your condition requires care from a specialist other than a chiropractor, the doctor we will be certain to refer you to the proper specialist for your specific condition. 

Treatment

At the conclusion of your report of findings, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal and/or extremity adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage. The most common question a chiropractor hears is "will it hurt?". No. We utilize the latest chiropractic techniques which are more gentle and specific than ever before. Most people say that the adjustments feel good. We will be sure to find the most gentle and effective technique for you. Treatment is individualized and interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.

Wellness Program

Prior to leaving, your chiropractor will suggest a  wellness program  to incorporate outside of the office.  If you are in pain when you first come into our office, this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches.  If you desire, our doctors and staff will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.  Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan.  The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve optimal spinal function, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
